Technician - Molecular Crop Improvement
7 days left
- Full Time
Crops that are more resilient to adverse environmental conditions and have a higher nutrient use efficiency (NUE) are required to address climate change-related problems and ensure sustainability of agricultural production systems. Access to diverse genetic resources and an ever-increasing sequence information now facilitate the identification of novel genes and alleles that can be tested for their effectiveness in conferring tolerance to e.g., heat or drought, or improving nitrogen and phosphorus-use efficiency.
We are looking for a highly motivated skilled technician to support the team in phenotyping diverse plant materials (wheat and rice) for selected traits and the molecular physiological characterization of the plants. This position requires experience in basic molecular techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, analysis of transgenic plants) and preparation of samples for "omics" analysis, as well as good knowledge and experience in phenotyping and growing crops, under controlled environment and field conditions. Experience in biochemical analysis, GC and related technologies are a plus.
Excellent data management and communication skills are a requirement, as well as cultural awareness while working in an international research environment.
The role holder is expected to carry out the duties listed below and any other duties reasonably required by the line manager or Institute, commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility for this post.
