As a highly motivated DMPK Project Representative you will join the growing Neuroscience IMED (Innovative Medicines and Early Development) research group in Cambridge, UK where you will be responsible for providing DMPK expertise and strategy on Neuroscience projects across a wide range of modalities. Collaborating with project team members you will drive the human PK and dose projections prior to candidate selection and generate appropriate DMPK packages of work to achieve project milestones, using both internal and external resource where applicable.

The Neuroscience IMED manages AstraZeneca's entire portfolio of CNS and pain programs from target identification through Phase II proof of concept studies. The IMED is built around a bold collaborative approach that brings together the great science of the biotech and academic worlds with the scientific and commercial reach of AstraZeneca, one of the world's largest global biopharmaceutical companies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will represent projects at various stages of research and development (target validation through life-cycle management) and will function as the sole point of contact for all DMPK activities on projects using your DMPK expertise to influence team strategy.

In this role you will provide appropriate input on Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamics (PKPD), Pharmacokinetic (PK), Bioanalytical, In Vitro Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME) and biotransformation aspects of projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Educated to BSc or equivalent
  • Experience in acting as a DMPK representative for projects in both discovery and development phases with key expertise in one of the following areas of DMPK science: PK/PD modelling, in vitro ADME, biotransformation or bioanalysis
  • Expertise with standard PK and PK/PD modelling and simulation software (e.g. Phoenix, MATLAB, Berkeley-Madonna)
  • Experience in outsourcing of DMPK activities to CRO's

Desirable Requirements

  • Educated to PhD is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of biologics and small molecule discovery and development is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of biologics discovery and development - especially knowledge of bioanalytical strategy and GLP is also desirable.
