Occupational Therapist £27,000 – £32,000 per annum Leicester Peritus Healthcare are pleased to consider applications for an Occupational Therapist in Leicester. Our client provides specialised person centered residential care to adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities who may have associated problematic and complex behaviours and personal care needs. All of their services are committed to person centered approaches which is designed to maximise each person’s right to exercise choice and control over their daily life. The role involves, amongst other responsibilities, providing an OT service for three residential homes and 2 supported living projects in Leicester. You will be responsible for delivering therapy treatment programmes for group and individual OT. Duties · Undertaking patient assessments of physical, communication, interaction and cognitive skills · Planning and providing appropriate treatment and activities · Giving advice and arranging support for family members, carers and clients · Undertaking general administrative tasks, for example writing reports, making telephone calls, maintaining records and case notes · Liaising with doctors, family members, carers and other professionals and keeping them updated · Planning further treatment and reviewing progress · Assessing treatment success at multi-professional case conferences/meetings · Design, co-ordinate and deliver an effective and efficient Occupational Therapy Service, based on assessment of needs. · Develop and administer the highest quality of service by identifying and implementing operational procedures in line with best practice standards. · Keep abreast with new developments, skills and technology to ensure continuing competence in the job. Skills and Experience · Candidates must hold a degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership with the AOTI. · Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills. · Experience of working with Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities · Display awareness and appreciation of the service users and the ability to empathise with and treat others with dignity and respect · Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver care in an effective and resourceful manner within a model of patient-centered care This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/75253746
