User Researcher Derbyshire, to £40,000 p/a plus benefits (inc flexible / home working), easily commutable from the surrounding area We are looking for a User Researcher to join a leading client based just south of Derby who're going through a major period of expansion. As a member of this talented team you must be highly motivated, analytical, and willing to work closely with both clients and internal stakeholders. With a background in hci-related research, and demonstrable industry experience, you will be able to hit the ground running. You will understand how to apply methods to deliver valuable outputs which support the design of services and solutions. Confident in working both independently, and collaboratively as part of a design and development team, you will be a passionate advocate of user research, and user centred design, championing this across the business. Key Responsibilities - Conduct tailored user research to inform service and solution design - Review and analyse findings in order to deliver valuable insights which drive multi-channel service delivery and the creation of digital solutions from a user needs perspective - Use research insights to create requirements and design tools (such as personas, scenarios of use and task flows) to effectively communicate user needs, and feed into the user-centred design process - Work with the design and development teams to ensure that research findings/user needs are championed: - Contribute to the creation and evaluation of wireframes from a usability and user needs perspective - Conduct user and stakeholder review sessions (wireframes, prototypes etc.) throughout design and development - Advocate research findings to diverse audiences (from client stakeholders to internal project teams) through written reports and oral presentations - Generate actionable insights and recommendations which can be used by designers and developers to improve the user experience of products and services - Travel to client locations as determined by project needs, to facilitate workshops, or conduct observations Experience and key skills - Previous experience working as a user researcher (or similar) in a commercial environment - Degree educated in relevant subject area (undergraduate, masters or PhD in Applied Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors or a related field) - Ability to call on a range of user research techniques to produce robust, unbiased outputs: identify the most appropriate user research methods (e.g. workshops, interviews, observations, evaluations) for a given project. Tailor chosen methods to ensure best outcomes. Provide evidence-based, actionable insights. - Experience in the following methods is highly desirable: Facilitating stakeholder and user workshops. Conducting one-to-one interviews with business stakeholders or end users (remote and in-person). Conducting observations or contextual enquiry. - Quantitative and qualitative data analysis - determine appropriate means of analysis in order to create valuable research outputs which fit project needs - Creation of tailored outputs which best communicate key insights (e.g. process flows, actionable recommendations, visualisations, context overviews etc.) - Excellent report writing and presentation skills - ability to clearly communicate outputs to business stakeholders as well as project teams - Use research outputs to produce user requirements and tailored design tools (e.g. personas, scenarios of use, task flows etc.) - Confident to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, advocating user needs and usability - Happy to apply methods in new ways, and challenge old thinking in order to produce better research outputs, and deliver them in more effective ways - Flexible approach to user needs gathering Desired skills - Designing and conducting structured usability evaluations - Experience in the creation and testing of user-centred Information Architecture and associated analysis techniques (card sorting, tree testing) - Experience in conducting user research as part of an agile approach - Experience in producing wireframes/paper prototypes This is a permanent position based in Derbyshire with a salary on offer up to £40,000 DOE plus benefits including, pension, learning and development, flexible and home working, etc. Please either apply by clicking online or emailing me directly to For further information please call me on / I can make myself available outside of normal working hours to suit from 07:00 until 22:00.
